During the last ten months, pupils aged 3 -11years have been working to complete a series of artwork based around ideas of culture, community, architecture and the environment. Drawing influences from acclaimed artists like Gustav Klimt and Jackson Pollock, the end results have been brought together to create ‘Playtime,’ a unique exhibition that has been displayed in the atrium of the Royal Liver Building.
Playtime was launched last night by Phil Redmond, Steve Burnett, CEO Royal Liver Group and Phil Stewart, Head Teacher of St Vincent de Paul School and will continue to run for three weeks.
Phil Stewart said: “It’s fantastic to see the children’s work displayed in such an impressive setting. They’ve thoroughly enjoyed the project and it’s meant that every child in our school has been able to have experience of working with a professional artist in the year of culture”
Royal Liver Chief Executive, Steve Burnett has said, “This project has been about supporting real grass roots culture – local artists working with local communities. I was astounded at the fantastic standard of the work that the children have produced. There’s around 2000 people who work in the Royal Liver Building and it’s great that they’ll all get to enjoy the children’s work too.“
