Des will be known to many following a long career in professional rugby, during which he represented both Ireland and the British Lions.

Since retiring from Rugby, Des has enjoyed a very successful career in financial services after an initial period working in the IT world.

Des worked for three years up to October 2004 as General Manager of Sales and Marketing with First Active Plc in Ireland, where he designed and implemented a retail strategy which brought with it substantial cultural and organisational change. Since then his roles have included Managing Director Retail at Ulster Bank, where he put his considerable expertise in distribution to good use.
